garden design and landscaping . Wiltshire and the Cotswolds

Gardenscape

We design and build gardens that belong to their setting, across North Wiltshire, the South Cotswolds and the Cotswold Water Park. One firm, from the first survey to the final planting.

In short

What is Gardenscape?

Gardenscape is Tom Windle, a garden designer and landscaper who both draws and builds the work, so there is no handover between the design and the people on site. He takes on a small number of considered gardens each year, with a specialism in natural swimming ponds, across North Wiltshire, the South Cotswolds and the Cotswold Water Park.

09
Planting and soft landscaping

Planting and soft landscaping

Planting schemes that suit the soil and the setting, planted to establish, not just to look good on handover day.

02 / The ground beneath

We build for the ground in front of us.

The clay of the vale, the limestone wolds and the gravels around the Water Park each need a different hand. Knowing the ground is why the work is right the first time.

Know the ground
  • Oxford Clay, the vale

Heavy, water-holding ground that moves with the seasons.

  • Cotswold and Bath limestone, the high ground

Free-draining alkaline stone, the rock the villages are built from.

  • Thames gravels, the Water Park

Free-draining gravels over a high water table, which is why the ponds work.

A note from Gardenscape

Most of what makes a place last is decided before a spade enters the ground.

From Gardenscape

We take on a small number of projects each year so the same hands stay on the work from first survey to final detail. It is the only way we have found to keep tolerances tight and decisions considered.

What clients say

Tom did a fantastic job on my blown down back garden fence. Left everything very neat and tidy too. Thoroughly recommend, and one hundred percent would use for other (nicer) gardening and landscaping work in the future. Thanks once again Tom.
